Message Alarm Privacy Policy
- Message Alarm reads notifications on your phone so it can ring an alarm when a message matches the rules you set.
- The content of your notifications and messages is checked on your phone and is never uploaded to our servers.
- Your alert history is stored only on your phone. You choose how long it is kept (7 days to lifetime, 90 days by default) and you can clear it at any time.
- If you turn on Save notifications, copies of notifications from the apps you pick (including verification codes) are kept only on your phone and are never uploaded.
- Activity numbers and insights are worked out on your phone and are never uploaded.
- If you turn on Smart Tray, the notifications it takes out of your notification tray are kept in the app's Inbox only on your phone and are never uploaded.
- We collect a small amount of technical data (described below) to run the service. We do not sell your data and the app shows no ads.
This policy explains what information the Message Alarm app ("Message Alarm", "the app", "we", "us") processes, why, and the choices you have. Message Alarm is published by OLL.E (olle.tech). By using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information processed only on your phone
The following information is used on your device to provide the app's features. It stays in the app's private storage and is not sent to us:
- Notification content — after you grant Notification access, the app reads notifications (app name, sender or conversation name, and message text) to compare them with the rules you configured for the apps you chose to watch. To count your activity numbers, notifications from all apps are counted without storing their text, and if you turn on Smart Tray, notifications from all apps are checked against your Smart Tray rules (section 1c). All of this happens on your phone.
- Your rules — the apps you watch, sender names, ignored names, keywords, time windows, alarm and auto-reply settings.
- Alert history — a record of matched messages (time, app, sender, message text, whether the alarm rang or an auto-reply was sent). You choose how long it is kept — 7, 30, 90 (default) or 180 days, 1 year, or lifetime (until you delete it) — and it can be deleted at any time from the Notifications screen. It is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- List of installed apps — the app lists the apps on your phone that have a launcher icon so you can choose which ones to watch, and recognizes messaging apps using a list built into the app. This list never leaves your phone.
- Alarm tones — if you pick a custom tone, a copy (optionally trimmed by you) is saved in the app's private storage.
- Settings and usage counters — theme, language, mute options and the number of alarms and auto-replies used, which are needed for the free daily and weekly limits.
1a. Saved notifications (optional)
"Save notifications" is off by default. The first time you turn it on, the app explains what it does and asks for your consent. When it is on:
- The app keeps a copy of the notifications from the apps you pick — app, sender or conversation name, message text and time — so you can read and search them later, organized by app and person. You can limit it to the people you name.
- Verification codes (one-time passwords) contained in those notifications are saved too. They are hidden in the app until you tap to show them.
- Photos, videos and files are not saved — only the text shown in the notification.
- Saved notifications are stored only on your phone, in the app's private storage. They are never uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone, and they are not included in analytics or crash reports.
- You choose how long they are kept: 7, 30, 90 (default) or 180 days, 1 year, or lifetime (until you delete them). Older ones are deleted automatically. You can delete one chat, one app or everything at any time, or turn the feature off. Uninstalling the app deletes them all.
1b. Activity numbers and insights
To show how many notifications were checked, matched your rules and rang (and why a match did not ring), and to find insights such as your busiest hours, who messages you most, noisy chats and suggestions for your rules, the app keeps on your phone:
- Counts per app, hour and day, and a short record of each checked notification's time, app and anonymized (hashed) conversation and sender keys — without message text. Detailed records are kept for 35 days and daily totals for up to 400 days.
- The display names of conversations and senders, so the insights can name them.
- Your "Useful / Not useful" feedback on insights, so the app can show more of what you find useful.
All of this is calculated on your phone; it is never uploaded. Insights that use message text (for example, keyword suggestions) only use notifications you chose to save. You can reset activity numbers at any time in the app.
1c. Smart Tray (optional)
Smart Tray lets you choose which notifications stay in your phone's notification tray. It is off by default; the first time you turn it on, the app explains what it does and asks for your consent. When it is on:
- Each new notification from any app is checked on your phone against the rules you set (apps, people, words and categories such as promotions, verification codes or payments). The category is worked out on the phone; nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
- Notifications your rules hide are removed from the tray (or held and shown again at a time you choose, or summarized in one Message Alarm notification) and a copy — app, sender or conversation name, message text, time and the reason it was hidden — is kept in the app's Inbox on your phone, so nothing is lost. You can bring any of them back.
- Message Alarm's own notifications, calls, alarms and ongoing notifications (for example music or navigation) are never hidden.
- During the optional one-day trial nothing is hidden; the app only records what it would have hidden so you can review it.
- To suggest rules (for example "send this shop's notifications to your digest" or "keep only @mentions from this group"), the app counts on your phone how often notifications are shown, opened, dismissed or replied to per app, conversation and category — counts only, without message text. Suggestions are worked out on your phone, are never applied without your tap, and can be undone.
- Quiet mode (optional, off by default): if you turn it on and allow "Do Not Disturb access", the app switches on its own Do Not Disturb rule during the times you choose so your phone stays silent, and Message Alarm alerts you only for the notifications you keep (for example VIP people, urgent words and your Keep rules). Alarms always ring, and calls from your starred contacts and repeat callers can ring if you allow them. The app only turns its own rule on and off; it does not read or change your other Do Not Disturb settings, and nothing is sent off your phone. Turning Quiet mode or Smart Tray off ends it immediately, and you can remove Do Not Disturb access at any time in Android settings.
- Hidden notifications follow the retention you choose (90 days by default, or lifetime) and can be deleted at any time. Turning Smart Tray off stops all hiding immediately. Uninstalling the app deletes everything.
2. Auto-reply
If you turn on auto-reply for an app, Message Alarm sends the reply text you wrote through that app's own notification "Reply" action when a matching message arrives (for example, a reply in WhatsApp or Telegram). The reply is delivered by that messaging app to the person who messaged you, under that app's own privacy terms. We do not receive, store or read your replies on our servers. Auto-reply is off by default and you can turn it off at any time.
2a. Smart features
Message Alarm's smart features — Find My Phone, Payment Soundbox, Read aloud, Rider arrival alarm and Family mode — are optional, off by default, and work only on your phone while Message Alarm is watching for messages. The first time you turn on Find My Phone, Payment Soundbox, Read aloud or Family mode's "Let them know I saw it", the app explains what it does and asks for your consent.
- Read aloud and Payment Soundbox speak notification text using your phone's own text-to-speech engine. Nothing is uploaded.
- Payment Soundbox reads payment notifications, and payment SMS notifications from trusted senders, from the apps you choose, only to announce the amount you received. Amounts and payment details are never uploaded, shared or used for any other purpose. The app does not read your SMS inbox.
- Find My Phone checks incoming messages in your messaging apps for the secret phrase you set and, when it is found, rings your phone loudly — even on silent — until you stop it. It can optionally reply in that chat to say the phone is ringing. It does not access or share your location.
- Rider arrival alarm checks notifications from the delivery and ride apps you choose for arrival messages and rings when your rider or driver has arrived.
- Family mode rings loudly for messages from the names you enter. If you turn on "Let them know I saw it", it sends the reply you set from your own account in that chat app when you dismiss the alarm.
- A local, on-device history of these events is kept for 90 days and can be cleared at any time. We only receive anonymous statistics on which features are switched on or off — never message content, names, amounts or phrases.
3. Information sent to our servers
To deliver app notices, keep the app's message filters up to date and understand how many people use the app, the app sends the following to our server (api-v2.olle.tech) over an encrypted connection (HTTPS):
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Firebase Cloud Messaging token | To send you push notifications about the app (for example, important notices or updates). |
| Android ID (a device identifier set by Android for this app) | An anonymous identifier for your installation, so the same device is not counted twice. It is not linked to your name, phone number or email. |
| Country | Determined on your phone from your mobile network, SIM or region setting (no location permission and no IP-address lookup). Used for timing notices and basic usage statistics. |
| Time zone | So notices can be sent at a sensible local time. |
| Number of alarms played (a count only) | Basic usage statistics. No message content is included. |
| Name and package name of an app you add that is not yet in our list | So we can add filters that ignore that app's system notifications (for example, "checking for new messages"). No message content and no sender information is sent. |
| App language code and filter list sizes | To download the right notification filters for your language. |
We never send your notification content, messages, sender names, keywords, auto-reply text, contacts, alert history, saved notifications, verification codes, activity numbers or insights to our servers.
4. Third-party services
The app uses the following Google services, which process data under Google's Privacy Policy:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers push notifications.
- Firebase Analytics — collects app usage events (for example, which screens and settings are used, which app you added to watch — such as WhatsApp — with its alarm settings and the number of sender names and keywords, but never the names, keywords or message text themselves), along with device model, Android version, app version and approximate region. Firebase Analytics may also collect your device's advertising ID, which is used only for analytics — Message Alarm shows no ads and does not use it for advertising or share it with ad networks. You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash reports (stack traces, device model, Android version) so we can fix bugs.
- Google Play — app installation, updates and the in-app review prompt.
The app contains information about our other app, OLL.E, and links to it on Google Play. Opening those links simply opens Google Play; no data is shared with the OLL.E app.
5. Permissions and why we need them
| Permission | Why Message Alarm needs it |
|---|---|
Notification access BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE | The core feature: read incoming notifications from the apps you choose, check them against your rules on the phone, (if you enable it) send an auto-reply through the notification's reply action, and (if you turn on Smart Tray) remove or hold the notifications your Smart Tray rules hide. You grant this in Android settings and can revoke it at any time. |
Show notifications POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Show the alarm, the "watching" status notification, missed-alarm and limit notifications. |
Display over other apps SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW | Optional. Shows a full alarm card with the sender and message over the screen while the alarm rings. Alarms still work without it. |
Foreground service FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE | Keeps the notification watcher running reliably in the background, with a visible "watching" notification, so alarms are not missed. |
Foreground service for media FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SHORT_SERVICE | Plays the alarm sound while the alarm card is on screen. |
Wake lock WAKE_LOCK | Turns the screen on and keeps the alarm playing until you dismiss it. |
Vibrate VIBRATE | Vibrates when the alarm rings, if you turned vibration on. |
Flashlight FLASHLIGHT | Blinks the camera flash as a visual alarm, if you turned it on. The camera is never used to take photos or video. |
Do Not Disturb access ACCESS_NOTIFICATION_POLICY | Optional. Only used by Smart Tray's Quiet mode to turn the app's own Do Not Disturb rule on and off at the times you choose. You grant it in Android settings and can remove it at any time. |
Ignore battery optimizations REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS | Lets the app show Android's "Let app always run in background?" dialog when you choose "Keep running in background", so Android does not pause the notification watcher and delay or miss alarms. Optional; you can change it at any time in Android settings. |
Run at startup RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Restarts the notification watcher after your phone restarts. |
Internet and network state INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE | Downloads notification filters and app notices, sends the data described in section 3, and shows an offline message when there is no connection. |
| Installed apps (launcher apps only) | Lets you pick which apps to watch from the apps that have an icon on your home screen. The list stays on your phone. |
Advertising ID com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID | Lets Firebase Analytics read the device's advertising ID for app analytics only. The app shows no ads and does not use it for advertising. You can reset or delete it in Android settings. |
Firebase Cloud Messaging com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE | Receives push notifications. |
Play Install Referrer BIND_GET_INSTALL_REFERRER_SERVICE | Added by Firebase Analytics to know how the app was installed (for example, from Google Play). |
Message Alarm does not request access to your contacts, SMS, call logs, microphone, camera (photos or video), location, files or photos. To pick a custom alarm tone, Android's own file picker is used, which only gives the app the single file you choose.
Battery and auto-start: the app may ask, at a time you choose, to let Message Alarm run in the background (Android's battery optimization dialog) and may open your phone maker's auto-start settings. Both are optional and you can change them at any time.
6. How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers listed in section 4 to operate the app, or when required by law.
7. Data retention and deletion
- On your phone: alert history, saved notifications and notifications hidden by Smart Tray are kept for the period you choose (90 days by default, or lifetime) and can be deleted at any time in the Notifications screen or Settings. Activity numbers can be reset in the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes all local data, including rules, history, saved notifications, activity numbers and saved tones.
- On our servers: the data in section 3 is kept while you use the app. You can ask us to delete it at any time — see how to request data deletion. We delete it within 30 days of your request.
- Google services: Firebase Analytics data is kept according to our Firebase project's retention setting (at most 14 months); crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
8. Security
All communication with our servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections, and the app does not allow unencrypted network traffic. Data on your phone is stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Children
Message Alarm is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to its processing. You can turn off Notification access, auto-reply and other permissions at any time in Android settings. To exercise your rights, contact us using the details below.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
12. Contact us
If you have questions about this policy or your data, email almujahid1100@gmail.com.
